Payment arrangements and community service
Are you unable to make a required payment within the given timeframe?
Contact the fine collector within the timeframe allocated to pay the fine and fee amount:
- By filling out a payment arrangement form;
- Or by meeting the staff, from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 130 Frontenac St., Sherbrooke.
If at the time of the agreement your driver’s licence has been suspended for non-payment of a Ville fine, the request to lift the suspension cannot be transmitted to the Société d’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) until full payment of any amounts due.
Note that in the event that a suspension is lifted, this only applies to the Ville de Sherbrooke’s files.
If your driver’s licence is valid while making the agreement but you do not comply with the agreement by failing or forgetting to make a payment, your agreement will thus be cancelled and your driver’s licence may be suspended, if applicable.
Community service
A collector who has reasonable grounds to believe that seizure does not or will not result in the recovery of the amounts owed by the defendant and, after examining the defendant’s financial situation, is convinced that the defendant is unable to pay, will give the option to pay the amounts owed through compensatory work (community service), to the extent that compensatory work programs are available.
The collector of fines is available to meet with you to evaluate your file and tell you if you are eligible for this program. No appointment necessary.
