Permits for construction, renovation and other work

Processing times

Return phone calls or emails: 3 to 7 business days.
Issuance of documents, once your complete application has been received: around 3 to 6 weeks.
Issuance of a permit requiring SPAIP approval: more than 4 months depending on the complexity of the file.

Once your permit application has been received and entered into our system, an inspector will assess it and send you an application number that will be used for follow-up.

Before beginning your project, contacting a contractor or buying materials, consult this section to find out if you need to apply for a construction permit or authorization certificate. This could prevent problems down the line, since the City may put a stop to unauthorized work, order the demolition of work, and impose fines.
